Who This Is ForCommon Starting Points
- Deciding whether to commit to, or stay in, a specific relationship
- Re-entering dating after a divorce or long relationship and want clarity before, not after
- Noticing the same pattern show up across multiple relationships and want to understand why
- Wanting an honest, structured read on compatibility rather than a gut-feeling guess
- Considering a shared next step — engagement, marriage, or blending households — and wanting a joint, structured read before deciding
How Coaching HelpsWhat the Work Looks Like
This is the core application of the Adlerian approach: instead of matching surface preferences (shared hobbies, similar values on paper), Lifestyle Analysis surfaces the underlying script each person is running — shaped by family constellation and early relational patterns — and where those scripts collide or align with a partner's.
- Lifestyle assessment — understanding your own relational patterns and where they come from, not just theirs.
- Family constellation & social interest — how birth order, early relationships, and capacity for genuine connection shape what you're drawn to and what you tolerate.
- Pattern-recognition — naming the recurring dynamic before it repeats again, rather than after.
- Practical clarity — a structured way to evaluate a specific relationship, not just general dating advice.
BackgroundWhy This Focus
Adlerian Lifestyle Analysis is Dr. Kassel's signature method, developed under nearly 1,000 hours of clinical supervision with a leading figure in Adlerian psychology during his doctoral training, and grounded in his own published research in The Journal of Individual Psychology. See the full Method page for how the framework works.
Most sessions here are individual — working with you on your own patterns and choices. For those ready to go deeper, the Lifestyle Assessment is available as a structured package, in individual and couples versions, described below.
InvestmentLifestyle Assessment Packages
The Lifestyle Assessment is the most in-depth work this practice offers — a structured, written read on the patterns driving your choices, not a single conversation. Both versions below draw on the same intake tool and Adlerian framework described above; the difference is scope.
Individual — $1,500
A structured process: a consultation to begin, your own completed intake profile, two 45-minute sessions — the first to review and complete your data with Dr. Kassel, the second to actively co-author your own Lifestyle Summary — and your finished, written Lifestyle Summary: a structured personal document synthesizing your family constellation, early relational patterns, and the recurring script shaping your relationship choices. A formal assessment and a document you keep, not a single conversation.
Couples — $3,500
A structured six-session process for two people weighing a shared future: a joint session to align on goals, an individual session for each partner to review and complete their intake, a second individual session for each partner to actively co-author their own Lifestyle Summary with Dr. Kassel, and a final joint session comparing both summaries side by side. Includes 3–4 hours of Dr. Kassel's own synthesis and writing time between sessions — a written product, not just conversation. This is coaching for a couple, not conjoint couples or marital therapy, and does not carry legal privilege between partners.
